This shield has "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (out of many, one), emblazened on an unfurling banner caught in the beak of an eagle. An American eagle, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizes that the United States has a strong desire for peace, but will always be ready for war. The eagle turns its head towards the olive branch to symbolize a preference for peace. 16" across (at top) x 17.75" high. Stamped on verso: "1958/Whitehall Metal Studios, Inc./ MONTAGUE, MICH./ U.S.A."
